Trailer Overview
The Unwavering Brotherhood’s official trailer is a stark portrayal of both emotion and action. It depicts the crime-laden side of Hong Kong and in doing so, takes us through the dark past that many would rather forget. In the midst of chaos, brutality and betrayal, the unfolding montage strikes a balance by portraying the bond shared between Wah, Fei and Kwok. Each element of this movie, such as the explosive battles, the intense conversation, and the eerie music scores are intended to portray trust forged through difficult times. There’s an interesting thought proposed in the trailer but The Unwavering Brotherhood’s official trailer fails to provide an answer- can all relationships be salvaged at the end of the road?

This is well captured by the character of Wah, Fei and Kwok who protect their leadership figures at all times such as Fa Kam. But, as time passes, it is evident that loyalty has its breaking point and that very break point is thicker than blood and it gets tested when the Triad circle tries to handle things off with a Heist gone wrong.

As midsection Wah finds himself blackmailed out of the akd where he works for stolen cash which was earned through fraudulent means. Wah eventually snatches crosses the decision of risk versus reward between his loyalities towards Fei and Kwok, whom he has known for a period of time and his another boss Fa Kam. Despite rumbles surrounding them, Wah rolls his sleeves and steps forward to find the answers, Will those answers break his longtime cherished belief or will he help fuel it more? Time will tell.

Themes and Style
Directed by Ka-Wai Ng, The Unwavering Brotherhood explores loyalty, family, and ethical issues related to the world of criminals. The film makes a striking combination of action with emotion such that it has both violent fighting scenes as well as mindful contemplative scenes. Hong Kong streets become a character in its own right which is rich with neon light and dark patches which suit a narrative that is as much about internal struggles as it is against the world.
