Synopsis

Mudhassar Aziz directed the film Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), which is a modern rom-com remake of the 1978 film of the same name. Unlike the original film which was a satire on an extramarital affair, the 2019 version puts a modern spin on the story with updated humor, youthful exuberance, and a more egalitarian take on relationships.

The movie is a mixture of comedy, drama, and romance and tackles issues such as love, temptation, insecurity, and marriage in the contemporary context.

Plot Summary

The story revolves around a middle-class government employee from Kanpur, Abhinav “Chintu” Tyagi (Kartik Aaryan), who lives what seems to be an idyllic life with a charming wife, Vedika (Bhumi Pednekar). As is the case with most men, Chintu soon finds himself captivated by the glamorous Tapasya Singh (Ananya Panday), a fashion designer from Delhi, even though he is married.

Chintu’s loyalty is tested, and he is soon caught in a whirlwind tangled in a web of conflicting halves of reality and peculiar encounters. Though the situation is uproariously funny, it also challenges the ideals of trust and communication in a relationship and the bonds of marriage.

In the end, the film poses the question whether Chintu gives in to temptation or chooses to recognize the true worth of his wife and his married life.
