Last ExMas is a wonderful holiday romantic comedy that offers an inspiring narrative of rebirth, reconciliation, and finding oneself. The plot involves Maggie (played by Elena Milo) and Julianne (portrayed by Shaeane Jimenez), two ex-lover six years after they speak last. They were both willing to move on from their odious relationship until destiny perhaps, or the spirit of festivities brings them onto the same place, their hometown during winter holidays.

Maggie, a successful fearless entrepreneur, returns to her home town with a well-constructed horror, while Julianne, an artist with an adventurous spirit, tries to put her creative aspirations into context with her family’s wishes. Their chances of overcoming previous expectations about each other’s relationships seems to be nearly none as they clashed enroute to reconciliation. Still, against the backdrop of the zone’s holiday activities, rather devastating for the loud competition of choirs and Christmas fair, the two are once again forced to witness the things people are ready to do for love, forgiveness and most importantly for knowing someone.

The movie features great supporting actors such as Jasmine Ward, who brings in ample comic relief and advised Maggie’s wisest friend Frankie, and Ethan Kline, who plays Julianne’s brother Liam, a good-natured irritating character. The film Last ExMas directed by Sarah Rotella and written by Adrianna DiLonardo is one of the memorable queer films for its honest representation of LGBTQ love. It is quite delightful to witness in a lighthearted and entertaining romantic comedy an LGBTQ personality without the typical narrative of tragedy or conflict in their life.

The film has a number of elements which include amusing dialogues and refreshing memories of the romance between Maggie and Julianne and many other typical activities held during Christmas in small-town America making it easy to watch and appreciate but deliberately never going out of context. To heighten the depressive key moments of the plot the movie is complemented by many festive melodies, which is ideal during the Christmas season.
