The film “Joy of Horses” depicts a beautiful scenery where the sorrow of loss, finding and acceptance is all intertwined with the life of the young girls and her grandfather’s ranch. With that said, the life of Teen Joy in the story follows through the trap doors of loss: she loses her mother and that becomes a reason for her to move miles to her grandfather’s ranch, however, there, she unexpectedly finds a new version with herself which opens those trap doors. On one hand, moving to the ranch did help her heal, on the other hand, that dusty ranch fully changed the course of Joy’s life. It turns out to be the home where never-ending compassion and courage awaits all thanks to the bonding that one makes with the equines.

She, throughout the film, develops an affectionate bond with Shadow who was initially quite stubborn. It is safe to say that Shadow did embody Joy in the sense of embodying her struggles, losing her mother and healing with time. The two developed a deep relationship which no one quite understood but have lost or gained the same thing, love, trust, and empathy, big parts of healing. In any case, after that, while this astonishing bonding took place between Joy and Shadow, her grandfather Tom undeniably had his own past and battles to go through.

The tension is heightened when she meets two boys, Blake, and Aidan, both of who make her examine her feelings and desires through their one-of-a-kind bonds with her. Such relationships go beyond the physical; in the case of Joy, it reveals how the woman has been able to come to terms with her past and look towards her future.

Joel Paul Reisig is the director of the film who makes Great Video, which features breathtaking shots of nature and a mystical connection among people and animals. Ava Justin’s Joy is both raw and heartbreaking, while Max Eric Lemberger’s Tom and Blake’s and Aidan’s characters played by Luke LeBrun and Yoshua Smith are also impressive.

A sense of pathos permeates the trailer making it a heartwarming experience, as it highlights Joy’s speech impediment, Shadow’s noncompliance and many such incidents which will appeal to the audience when they see her overcoming such hurdles. Emotions kick in as the trailer wraps up showing glimmers of ideas surrounding hope, love, and goodness free from all limitlessness.
