Between Us is a tender and complex Thai BL series which is kind of a sequel to the highly praised series Until We Meet Again. The show seeks to further develop the connection between the original series’ characters, Win and Team, and also addresses their individual character development in the process.
Expanded Synopsis:
The narrative examines the character of Team, a quiet freshman swimmer who has a lot of potential but is usually held back by his mental and emotional struggles. He is influenced by several childhood memories which understandably, up to this day causes him insomnia and lack of confidence in himself, both of which can hamper his performance in sports. Then comes Win, who is an advanced swimmer and older than Team and has a better understanding of his personal as well as athletic issues. He takes Team in and helps him with all the trauma he has buried inside.
As their friendship grows over the course of time, so does their relationship and it gradually turns into an obsession. Win is an elder student, so it’s norm to see him as enthusiastic, and self-assured, but all that changes when love is questioned. Fate is cruel and challenges the bond too, they have to wrestle with envy, all the biases the world has imposed upon them, and their lack of self esteem in order to secure a tomorrow for themselves.
Equally compelling are the life of their friends who Peters knows, family or teammates as they provide a subplot that complements the series. The recurring motifs of friendship and loyalty in all its complexities and acceptance makes Between Us a great story to tell.
Key Supporting Cast:
- Samantha Melanie Coates as Manow: A vivacious and caring friend who bridges the gap between the main characters and provides comic relief and heartfelt advice.
- Bosston Suphadach Wilairat as Pruk: Another teammate whose journey adds to the drama’s exploration of relationships and self-discovery.
- Fluke Pusit Dittapisit as Pharm and Ohm Thitiwat Ritprasert as Dean: Characters from the parent series make meaningful appearances, enriching the shared universe.
Why Watch It?
Between Us tackles an idea that gives more importance to communication on top of love and trust in a romance), healing in a relationship. It is very sweet, funny, and dramatic; in fact, rather a good story for romance and character story enthusiasts.
